When filming started on Back the the Future in 1985, Michael J. Fox wasn’t cast as the time traveling, own mother making outer Marty McFly, Eric Stoltz was. Seriously, they shot for 5 weeks with the dude who went on to play the drug dealer in Pulp Fiction.
Even before going with Stoltz, the filmmakers brought many other actors to screen test for the starring roles of this 80′s classic: Al Pacino, Eddie Murphy, Robin Williams, Pee Wee Herman, and naturally Alan Alda, along with many others.
