The editor of alternative newspaper The Buffalo Beast, Ian Murphy, took his place in political pranking history this week, alongside those DJs that pranked Palin as Sarkozy. Somehow, he managed to pull off a lengthy phone call with Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker while posing as billionaire conservative activist David Koch.

Walker is currently engaged in a heated battle with Wisconsin’s public employee unions, insisting that they take not only cuts to their pay and benefits, but give up their collective bargaining rights as well. Needless to say, aside from being quite funny in parts, the call shed a lot of light on the influence that major campaign donors have on politicians.

Not surprisingly, Jon Stewart and The Daily Show had the most insightful, and funniest, coverage of the best political pranking of the new decade. The clip is below.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m on the phone trying to convince Christine O’Donnell’s PR rep that I’m the Wicked Witch of the East.

(Update: they’re totally buying it)
