Teaching An Old Dog New Tricks
We all love dogs. Except for people who don’t (and do they really count as “people?”). But what’s the one thing that sucks the most about dogs? No matter how much you train them otherwise, at some point, they always die. Well, according to this video from the UCB LA’s The Midnight Show (Directed by Peter Atencio, Written by Heather Anne Campbell), which seems reliable, that may be a thing of the past.
Dog Dances Merengue
The title says it all. But since it seems like you people can’t figure out ANYTHING on your own lately (18% believe Obama is a Muslim? Really?), we’ll spell it out for you. In this video, a dog dances merengue.

Jimmy Fallon did well as a first-time Emmy host last night, but previous Golden Globes host Ricky Gervais (we’re told he’s also known for a couple of other things) stole his segment with this diatribe touching on important issues like beer, Mel Gibson, and the consequences of Mel Gibson drinking beer.

Barry’s Parries
As one of the funniest comics of his generation, you’ve seen Todd Barry over the past decade on everything from standup comedy specials to The Wrestler (Mickey Rourke’s boss) to FX’s Louie. But if you haven’t seen him live (recently), you might as well spit in the face of good comedy itself. Or, in lieu of that, watch Todd in this clip from The Late Show with David Letterman and then come out on Weds. Sep. 1st (9:30) to see him at Carolines on the next SmackDown: The Best of ComedySmack alongside host Giulia Rozzi, Jon Friedman, Christian Finnegan, Jamie Lee, Lance Weiss, Kira Soltanovich and videos by political comedy provocateurs The Full Ginsburg. (To make reservations call Carolines at 212-757-4100 and use code word “SMACK” for $5 cover).
OnStar or PornStar?
You know those OnStar commercials, where the automated voice promises to come to the aid of drivers in need? Well the people who made this parody (including “Dylan” from Modern Family) do. They had to. Otherwise, how else would they have known to parody it? Unless…they’re all Jedi knights? (Not as implausible as it might seem at first.)
Smack Talk for 8/30
I’ve learned that saying, “I can’t wait to see the red carpet” works much better on Emmy night as opposed to on a first date. -Jon Friedman
Under Danielle’s Spell
If you don’t know who Danielle Staub is, you’ve been living under a rock. Either that, or you actually have a life and good taste. At any rate she’s the raging harpy from The Real Housewives of New Jersey who is “famous” for her sex tape, her shameless pursuit of publicity, and, now her singing career. You haven’t seen true delusion until you’ve watched this.
