TV Clip: “What Scientologists Really Believe” from South Park
For years, Hollywood avoided taking on Scientologists (Steve Martin’s Bowfinger even changed the name to “Mind Head”). South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone opted for a more head on approach with this classic episode (clip here), in which Stan learns the actual (no joke) Gospel According to L. Ron. Space planes? Volcanoes? Laughable, sure, but no sillier than believing in oh, say, resurrection or Original Sin.
